As a master in chemical and bio engineering (KU Leuven, 1991) I have always been very interested in scientific research in life sciences.
Hence during my whole career I have been active in scientific-research-related functions. For the first 2 years of my career I have worked as a bench scientist, investigating the sphingolipid metabolism in the rat (faculty of medicine, KU Leuven). During the following 8 years, I have been active in several business intelligence roles towards discovery research as well as full development at Janssen Pharmaceutica. Next, I have been working for 5 years as a scientific writer discovery research at Johnson and Johnson, originally for Tibotec and Virco, but later on for Janssen Pharmaceutica as well.
Besides my deep interest in scientific research, I have always had a passion for writing. So, in the past I have taken a 2-year evening course in journalism, and more recently I have participated in numerous creative writing courses.
As of the 1st of July 2010, I am a freelance scientific writer. |
